Welcome to the Barksdale Global Power Museum!

Take an exciting journey through the past and discover the dynamic history of Strategic Bombardment at the home of the 2nd Bomb Wing, the mighty 8th Air Force, and the new Air Force Global Strike Command.

The Barksdale Global Power Museum is not only a memorial to our successes in battle, but a recognition of the many years spent training to deter war. The peacetime history of Barksdale Air Force Base is as significant as those years at war.

Come out and see vintage aircraft like the venerable B-17 and B-24 bombers of World War II; along with their best “Little Friend”, the P-51 Mustang. You can also see Cold War heroes such as the B-52D and B-52G Stratofortress. We will show you the highest and fastest flying jet aircraft ever – the MACH 3+ SR-71 Blackbird. There are many more on display in our air park.

Inside, we have six different exhibit galleries that help tell our story.

Hours of Operation & Security Information

The museum is operating at our normal hours of 9:30am to 4:00pm, everyday except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.

GENERAL ENTRY:

Visitors must enter at the NORTH GATE on Northgate Rd. Once you arrive at the gate please alert the Security Forces Personnel at the gate that you will be visiting the museum and give them the Driver’s License of every individual in your vehicle that is 17 or over. You will then pull your car over to be searched and a quick check will be run on your ID. Once cleared you may enter the museum. After you finish your time at the museum you will retrieve your ID from the guards at the gate.

MUSEUM ENTRY FOR FOREIGN VISITORS:

All persons wishing to enter the museum from a foreign country must contact the museum at least ONE MONTH in advance. Please email the following information to XXX:

  • Full Legal Name

Once information is received please allow 3 weeks for clearance to come through. If you are cleared for entry we will work to set you up with an escort. You have to have an escort form base, so your tour date and time will have to be flexible in order to work with our escorts.

Please remember that we are an active military installation so access is not always granted and because of real world operations and events your trip may be canceled. We are sorry for the inconvenience but these are the rules we must abide by.

We work hard to get everyone access but the safety of our country and our Airmen must always come first!
